Salomon RE-evolutionizes running with a shoe that’s unique to any human.

Salomon RE-evolutionizes running with a shoe that’s unique to any human. To demonstrate it in a playful experiment, we crafted a ME:sh for Lucy the australopithecus. With the help of paleoanthropologists specialized in motricity, the Salomon team retrieved Lucy’s data, and crafted a shoe that fits her perfectly using ME:sh’s 4 fit approach : • Anatomical fit, the shape of one’s foot : based on Lucy’s reconstructed foot (by paleoartist John Gurche), Salomon’s specialists and engineers were able to thermoform ME:sh’s structure, the ‘skeleton’, to fit her large V-shaped foot. • Biomechanical fit, how one runs : with the help of Dr. Druelle from the Laboratory for Functional Morphology of the University of Antwerp, Salomon adapted Lucy’s midsole to fit the way she moved. • Usage fit, where one runs : 3.2 million years ago, Lucy’s environment was no different than today’s, and therefore requires to be adapted with one of Salomon’s outsole technology. • Preference fit, what one wants to feel or look like : following Kilian’s preferences, Salomon assumed Lucy would have a taste for minimalism. They chose a full black color on every element of her ME:sh, and made it light to better feel nature. Discover in this documentary the inspiration and process behind the creation of Lucy’s ME:sh, then craft your own on http://www.salomon.com/slabmesh

Of Fells and Hills

The history, culture and legends of the ancient practise of Fell Running.

The term “fell” is an often used Northern England expression for hill or mountain. It is presumed that Shepherds were probably the first ever fell runners with the earliest documented accounts of running in the fells dating back to the 11th Century. By the 19th century organised fell runs began taking place in Cumbria in the United Kingdom. Locals raced each other up and down hills and a sport was born. In “Of Fells and Hills” we travel with American Writer, Photographer and Trail Runner, Rickey Gates, to the UK to explore and discover the history, culture and legends of the ancient practise of Fell Running.
